What came first the chicken or the egg?

Learn about hens, chicks and eggs.

Feed the hens collect the eggs, use the table top egg grader, set an incubator. Handle a hen ( not absolutely necessary for the squeamish) identify different types of feathers, learn how to spot a healthy hen

See our fancy hens that all lay different coloured eggs
Learn about different methods of keeping hens, their pests and diseases
See how the hens fit into our farm food chain

Then have a farmhouse tea, boiled eggs (you can choose your own, any colour!) and soldiers, Lancashire cheese and farm pickles, bread and home made jam/jelly sandwiches, home made cakes and cups of tea or cordial for children. While the ‘grown ups' are finishing cups of tea children can make some arty crafty hen and chicken works of art.
