Educational Farm Visits For High Schools

Visit a Rossendale hill farm & cover many aspects of the science & geography curriculum

This is a typical profile for a High School visit from Year 7 to Year 10. During this ½ day visit your students will follow a clearly marked trail (APPROX 1.5kms) with supporting guide and resources.

The students will experience a walk from the lower slopes to the upper moorland at 330m above sea level.

The format for the day can be altered to suit the curriculum you are following. Some schools make this a two centre day trip visiting Cronkshaw Fold Farm and award winning Helmshore Textile museum following the Fleece to Fabric theme.

Topics that can be covered as part of the visit:

  • pond life
  • conservation issues
  • grass land studies - species rich hay meadows, rough grazing
  • land use
  • young woodlands
  • breeding sheep + farm stock
  • weather data
  • diversification projects
  • alternative energy projects

We have a small residential unit for groups of up to 16.
