A small park with play equipment and safety surfaces set by the river Ogden. Suitable for a half hour session for families. In hot weather the Bridge End pub opposite have tables outside for refreshments. Twenty minute walk or push chair ride from Cronkshaw Fold.

2. Helmshore Textile Museum and café.
Award winning galleries with a gift shop and small café. Thirty minute road walk from Cronkshaw Fold Farm. Adequate activities for a morning or afternoon.

A friendly general store selling newspapers, sweets, food and good off- licence. Twenty minute road walk from Cronkshaw Fold Farm.

4. Ellen Strange Monument.
A half hour stroll from Cronkshaw Fold Farm across Holcombe moorland. Residential visitors can read the story in the farm cottage. Not suitable for push chairs.
5. Robin Hood’s Well.
Robin Hood’s Well. This walk is a good ‘before bedtime’ stroll. Suitable for a buggy follow the bridleway from the farmyard. Thirty minutes total walking time plus a play in the shallow well (only knee high!)
6. Calf Hey Reservoir.
Calf Hey Trail & Picnic Area. Located on the B6232 and just a 10 minute drive from Cronkshaw Fold Farm. Lovely level pathway taking in the reservoirs and heritage trail, with delightful woodland areas and a Fairy Glen. There are picnic tables and good parking facilities. The walk around the reservoir can take from thirty minutes depending on pace!
7. Clough Head Café
Travel along the B6232 past the entrance to the Grane Reservoir. At the crest of the hill turn right and find a walkers café in the woods. This is sign posted. A good, unpretentious café with reasonably priced, wholesome food.
8. Haslingden Swimming Baths.
Rather old fashioned but well staffed, spotlessly clean and you will get a really warm welcome. Opening times in the cottage folder.

9. Rossendale Farmers Market.
A lively market selling all manner of seasonal goods on the first Sunday in the month. An early arrival is advised as stalls soon sell out. Thirty minute walk from Cronkshaw Fold Farm. Usually located just off Helmshore Road, Helmshore.

10. East Lancashire Railway.
The timetables are in the cottage. 15 minute drive to Rawtenstall where you can park and ride on a steam or diesel train to Ramsbottom or Bury; famous for it’s busy Lancashire market.
